On Sunday, October 4th, Seacourt hosted the Peter Dawes Trophy, a Parent & Child handicap doubles tournament. Four pairs competed in this prestigious event: Marta Morgan & Daniel Morgan, Mike Wallace & Ryan Wallace, Steve Green & Luca Morris-Green, and Andy Morgan & Jack Morgan.
The day began with a minute of silence in memory of Peter Dawes, honoring his contributions to Seacourt and his support for the tournament over the years.
It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the tournament throughout the day. Steve and Luca, a new pairing, had a great time, and we look forward to seeing more from them in the future. The Wallaces fought hard but didn’t make it through to the final, resulting in an all-Morgan final played at level. The final was competitive, with the entire family vying for the title. However, it was Marta and Daniel’s year, as they claimed victory with a score of 8-3. Congratulations to them, and a special shoutout to Marta for her first club tournament win!
A huge thank you to Viv Dawes for providing the prizes for the presentation. We also appreciate Drew for marking all the matches. Overall, it was an enjoyable day of tennis, showcasing the juniors’ improvement in their skills.
