Seacourt took on Cambridge in the first round of the Pol Roger at home Sunday just gone. We were triumphant! Luke and Charlie Danby came out firing taking the first set 6/2. A great partnership with Charlie’s steady volleying and Luke’s accurate forcing then saw them take the second set 6/1 setting us off to a great start.
The second match saw Will Flynn take on Ed Kay. Will took an early lead over Ed until he tightened up his serves bringing it back to 3/3. Will managed to take the first set 6/3 after gaining back momentum. Tight serves and accurate serving saw him through the second set taking the next 6/2. Seacourt now leading 2/0.
We were very lucky that Henry Henman made his first appearance for Seacourt in this years Pol Roger. He played our second singles match taking on Ed Hyde. Henry played an all around consistent and steady match with some extremely fast paced and accurate forcing. He put on a fantastic show and the 6/0 6/0 score line reflects that. Seacourt now lead 3 matches to 0.
Next up Tom Weaver faced Jules Camp. The pressure now off knowing that Seacourt were through to the next round, he cruised through the first set 6/0 displaying his usual stylish tennis. His opponent ramped it up in the second set but Tom was too strong and took the second set 6/4. Seacourt lead 4-0.
Last up Mark Mcmurrugh and Paul Weaver took on Andrew Petrie and Jin Lee. A mix of pace and precision from the pair saw them take a quick lead of 6/1. At 5/3 down in the second set they managed to claw it back to 5/5 and eventually took the set. Seacourt impressively didn’t drop a set in any of the 5 matches played. We now take on Leamington in another home match on the 19th January. We look forward to your support and hope to see you there.
