On Sunday 6th October Seacourt hosted the Hurlingham Pigeons at home, with 5 matches to be played, kicking off with our junior William New against Ben Havey. It was a very tight tussle between them with Will taking the first set 6/4, now Ben settling into the court, pushed back hard, and tested William all the way to 5 all. They exchanged set points and match points 4 times before William closed out the match 6/4 6/5, a great match to get Seacourt on the map.
William stayed on for the next doubles match partnering Jon Cobon against Jo Lewis & Dominic Higham. Jon & Will went into a flying lead taking the first set 6/0 playing well together, this continued taking the match in straight sets.
Nick Jones & Nigel Ireson had a great match against Simon Talbot-Williams & Patrick Lewis just losing out 6/1 6/5, taking the match to 2/1 Seacourt.Matt Boulton & Matt Simpson stepped out on court to play Paul Spraggs & Nick Atkins, another tight match with the ‘Matts’ securing the win in straight sets with another 6/5 in the second set.
The final match saw Nick Atkins take on junior Alex Boulton, there were some great rests and tidy tennis from both players but Alex proved too strong, winning 6/1 6/1. A great day of tennis was had by all.
