Seacourt member John Ward has won the Singles and Doubles first Over 80’s Real Tennis tournament which took place at Holyport from 13th to 15th December. He defeated Willie Wilks 6-3 in the final and, playing alongside Willie, he also beat Robin Barlow and Michael Seymour, with a score of 6-3. David Brazier, a fellow Seacourt member, donated a splendid silver trophy for the singles.
John’s achievement is truly remarkable as he had his second knee replacement back in March and has been suffering from sciatica lately. Another interesting fact about John is that he has now won the over 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s, which is an exceptional accomplishment!
