On Sunday, July 12th, we held the Emsworth Salver. In the early rounds, Alex Boulton defeated Jack Morgan with a score of 8-2, and Ryan Wallace beat Kev Nelson 8-6. Alex then went on to win against his father, Matt, with a score of 8-1.
The final match was set to be the best of three sets, featuring Alex and Ryan. Both players showcased impressive shots throughout the match, with Ryan applying pressure and forcing Alex to work hard for his points. Their solid retrieving kept the crowd engaged and on their toes!
In the end, it was Alex’s day as he emerged victorious with a score of 6-3, 6-2. Congratulations to both players; we can expect great things from them in the future.
A special thanks to Archie Watson for assisting in marking the matches and for his speech during the prize-giving ceremony. Paul Weaver shared some wise words as both Alex and Archie prepare to compete in the Junior World Championships from August 24th to 30th, where we can look forward to more fantastic tennis!
