Last weekend, a Padel competition was held for players in the Seacourt Morning Padel Group. Twelve pairs entered the competition, with eight pairs playing in the first round and four pairs receiving a bye into the second round. This format resulted in eight pairs advancing to the second round to compete for a place in the final.
On Saturday, the first two rounds were played, featuring some exciting finishes. Four matches went to a third-set tiebreak to determine the semifinal pairings.
On Sunday, the first semifinal saw Gary Wareham and Al Williamson defeat Bill Kerr and Mike Kenny. In the second semifinal, Alyson Johnstone and Ian Knight overcame Andy Neal and Peta Taylor in another close match.
The final showcased some thrilling gameplay, with both pairs performing well, much to the delight of spectators. After a tense battle, Gary Wareham and Al Williamson emerged as the winners, while Alyson and Ian put up a commendable effort.
The runners-up received a bottle of wine each to celebrate their achievement, while the winners were awarded splendid trophies to proudly display to their friends and family.
Thank you to all the players who participated in the competition; it was a very enjoyable and social event over the weekend.
