John Parker Handicap Doubles 2023

On Sunday, October 29th, Seacourt hosted the John Parker Handicap Mixed Doubles tournament. There were two groups, each with four pairs, who played one 6-game set. The matches were exciting and a few even went down to the wire. Out of the eight pairs, two emerged as group winners: Rosie & Graham Law and Katie Rawlinson & Matt Simpson. This set up the final match between the two groups.

At the start of the match, Rosie & Graham were a bit nervous and quickly fell behind 3-0. Katie’s effective left-hand railroad serve and Matt’s steady floor game proved to be a tough challenge. Despite this, the Laws were able to come back and narrow the gap to 5-3. However, they eventually fell behind 7-4 in a few 40-all games.

In the end, Katie & Matt emerged as the winners, taking the trophy by a score of 8-4. Congratulations to them on their first doubles tournament victory! A special thanks to Ollie for helping out with the marking. The crowd was lovely as always, creating an atmosphere that truly reflected the spirit of Seacourt. We would like to thank everyone who participated in the tournament and contributed to its success.

Best regards,

Drew
