Seacourt’s Jess Garside traveled across the water to take her place in the Ladies French Open held in Paris recently, entering both the singles and doubles. In the singles Jess came up against one of the top seeds Saskia Bollerman, a tough first round but Jess proved her worth racing to a 4/1 lead in the first set and playing her best tennis, this was great to watch, just losing out in a tight first set 6/4 and then losing out in straight sets.
Moving into the doubles partnering Lea Van De Zwalmen at the semi-final stage destroyed K.Corney & I.George 6/0 6/0, this set their sights for the final against Ladies World Champion Claire Fahey & Saskia Bollerman, this was the one to watch!
Jess & Lea knew they had to bring their best tennis out and that they did! Firing on all cylinders and producing some great tennis taking the first set 6/3 With Claire & Saskia fighting back to take the 2nd set 6/1, now all to play for, all 4 players playing at their best, and from Jess in particular strong forcing and volley returns of serve, the rallies went on & on!
After over 2 hours of match play, Claire & Saskia took the match in a 3-set thriller.
