John Parker Cup

On Sunday, 26th October, Seacourt helped the John Parker handicap mixed doubles, with 8 pairs fighting it out for this prestigious title.
Group 1 was Liz & Peter Turner, Vince Dobbin & Tory Weaver, Doris & Geoff Oldland, and Anna Williams & Chris Dewar-English, with handicaps restricted to 65.0, making it hard for some of the players. The winners of the group were Tory & Vince, with runners-up Anna & Chris, both pairs through to the semi-final stages.

In the 2nd group, we had Jo & Patrick Lewis, Jess Garside & Will Flynn ( playing left-handed), Rosie & Graham Law, and Tati Dowley & Ruaridh Mackenzie, with Jess & Will going through with Rosie & Graham.

The first semi-final was Tory & Vince against Rosie & Graham, a tight handicap match with Vince & Tory making it through to the final 6/4.
In the second semi-final, Jess & Will were taking a huge handicap, including one serve & banned the tambour, a very close match squeaking through at 6/5. Into the final, Tory & Vince received the handicap against Jess & Will rec 30 owe half 30 one serve banned the tambour, a nervy first few games up to 3 all before Tory & Vince stepped up and took advantage of the handicap, playing well and putting Jess & Will under more pressure, taking the match and the John Parker trophy 8/3!

Congratulations!

A big thank you to Paul Weaver for presenting the trophy and his kind words, a truly fun day of doubles. Well played, everyone.
