With 70 members participating, the club was a vibrant sea of colors as two teams of 35 competed in various sports starting at 10 am sharp on Saturday morning. The sports included lawn tennis, real tennis, badminton, squash, racketball, and padel. The weather favored lawn tennis, and the competitive spirit was evident among the members, including young juniors who joined in.
Both the Reds and Blues captains, Matt Simpson and Reece Glyde, had their hands full supporting their teams. The Blues took an early lead on Saturday, but the Reds fought back in the afternoon. It was great to see so many people getting involved in new sports and making new connections. Sunday started at 9 am, and after a series of matches, the Blues emerged as the winners by a margin of 3 points.
Congratulations to Reece for his captaincy. Special thanks were extended to Russ Green for his spreadsheet skills, Vince Dobbin for organising the event, and Pete Wilson for manning the barbecue. The bar staff at Seacourt were also appreciated for keeping everyone hydrated. The biggest thanks, however, went to the playing members for their support and sportsmanship. The organizers look forward to hosting this event again next year. Keep your racket up!
