The Gordon Grady Cup 2025

On Saturday, November 1st, Seacourt hosted the Gordon Grady Cup, a national under-15 age handicap singles tournament. We had ten young players from Seacourt and other parts of the country competing, and it turned out to be a fantastic day of tennis!

Seacourt players included Sam Pickup, Erin Palmer, Tobias Russell, Austin Russell, and Luca Morriss. With two groups of five players, we witnessed some great matches.

Tobias Russell advanced to the semi-finals but narrowly lost in an impressive performance. In the second semi-final, Zoe Neville from Wellington secured her spot in the final against Seacourt’s Sam Pickup. Both Sam and Zoe played exceptionally well, with Zoe ultimately winning the match and deservedly taking home the Gordon Grady Cup.

Congratulations to all the Seacourt players for their enthusiasm and passion for real tennis; you are a credit to the club.

A massive thank you to Jane Grady for her generous sponsorship of this event. She provided all the competitors with a t-shirt, a goody bag, and a fantastic lunch, and her dedication and support throughout the day were invaluable. We also appreciate William New, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.

We were fortunate to have Paul Weaver present the trophy and prizes, delivering a heartfelt speech that praised the juniors for their hard work.

It was an excellent day of junior tennis, and we look forward to next year’s tournament!
